Sommet Fitness is about results.

We know that everyone isn't right for the same class. So we take the time to personally assess and analyze your body's unique functionality. From there, you meet our highly-skilled and certified instructors who are committed to see your outcome. We discover your strengths and limitations and formulate an individualized program specific to your goals.

Steve Vicera

For over 20 years, Steve has been helping people reach their goals for better function, greater fitness, and an overall sense of well being. His philosophy is concentrating on core strength and stabilization. This integrated training approach complements the body, making it more functional and improving its appearance. 

Steve's Pilates story begins after externally reaping the fruits of intense bodybuilding and power lifting. He was a champion in body building in 1989, earning titles in the “Super Body Fitness” and “Mr. Philippines” competitions in the 1990’s. However, internally his body was straining to keep up with me. One of his spinal vertebrae finally gave out and acquired a condition called Spondylolisthesis. It was the injury that made him realize he was going the wrong path. 

This was Steve's moment of clarity. He began to search for other methods of training that will not be detrimental to my health. He did research and discovered Pilates and began doing rehab on his back. It was the perfect choice. He realized that Pilates was filling the gap of years of strength training and bodybuilding that had left the main gap of core strength and spinal stabilization. He learned that Pilates integrates one's entire body as one. He went through the 500 hours of the STOTT PILATES® Instructor Training Program.

Steve founded Sommet Fitness in 2007 and his mission now is helping people who are suffering from back pain. He uses the Pilates methodology as an alternative from pain medications and surgery. 

Presently, Steve is a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor, specialized in spinal stabilization and corrective exercise. His main emphasis is on safety and function, with a specialization on back pain.

CHANDLER SUGGS

Chandler is a native-born Phoenician who grew up in Central Phoenix, before moving to Los Angeles in 2009 to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. From there she remained in the fashion industry until 2015. In 2011 at only 22 years old, she began to experience chronic pain as well as a myriad of other symptoms. After years of doctors, procedures and medication with no answers, she began seeing Naturopaths and Kinesiologists whom reccomended Pilates to further assist in alleviating her pain. The combination had a profound effect on what she would learn were multiple autoimmune diseases. The life changing impact she felt from the Pilates method motivated her to leave the fashion world and strive to help others have a similar experience.

Today she is mostly pain free thanks to the healing power of Pilates combined with her holistic approach to her conditions. She began with classical training in mat Pilates, before moving to Balanced Body reformer training. From there she received comprehensive contemporary training on Stott aparatuses. After which she began training in fascial release amongst other techniques and continues furthering her 2,000+ hours of training monthly.

Chandler is passionate about getting her clients out of pain and into the best physical shape, while focusing on correcting muscle imbalances. She hones in on body mechanics, while using seamless transitions and focusing on breath work.  The combination of her classical and contemporary background, has made her a skilled and qualified teacher. Her sessions focus on helping her clients learn to connect with their body and practice contrology in order to aid alignment and strengthen muscles while lengthening. 
After leaving Los Angeles she found herself living back here in the desert. When she is not at the studio Chandler loves cooking, antiquing and throwing a ball for her Labradoodle, Olive.
